I was a bit disappointed in where the overall story was going, in Riku’s motivations, and the story felt like it derailed from the Sora, Donald, and Goofy find themselves in the belly of a huge whale with Pinocchio and his father, swim through the ocean kingdom of Ariel’s, and find themselves battling of Captain Hook’s pirate ship, all the while looking for keyholes. They make new friends, yet are confronted by new enemies, including Riku, who has allied himself with Maleficent and the Heartless. Sora, Donald, and Goofy find themselves in the belly of a huge whale with Pinocchio and his father, swim through the ocean kingdom of Ariel’s, and find themselves battling of Captain Hook’s pirate ship, all the while looking for keyholes. Above all, I'm just glad there's a way for non-gamers to still enjoy the story of "Kingdom Hearts." I'm looking forward to the next volume, which I believe is the conclusion.more That's not to say I'll never read a manga or that I'm not enjoying this one. (At least, this particular manga does I'm certainly no expert in genre.) Those are my personal takeaways (comparing manga and graphic novels), and between the two, I still prefer the more "grounded" (for lack of a better word) style of graphic novels. Graphic novels feel a little more "paced," and the art styles tend to be a bit more "sweeping." (If that makes any sense.) Manga seems to be a bit more "short, sweet, and to-the-point." The story also tends to rely more on caricaturish expressions and situations-which is fine. Again, I'm not sure if manga is really my style-it almost moves a little bit too quickly. This is truly a unique tale told by very imaginative people.

I think I would enjoy it more if it was done as a graphic novel, rather than a manga-but it's still clear that a ton of creativity and heart (no pun intended) went into tying classic, beloved Disney tales into this larger, anime-style story of world-hopping and battling monsters. Graphic novel The story is really starting to pick up in this one. With the manga world, it's completely different. The story is really starting to pick up in this one.

Plus, Disney doesn't like to leave loose ends, either. Thus, 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep and Coded were born, and then after the remake of Coded, Dream Drop Distance came next, and then came 1.5 and 2.5, and now we're getting 2.8 BEFORE Kingdom Hearts 3, which I thought would've been the next title after it's ending. The latter doing the final mix version and putting up that secret ending, which gave him the ideas of continuing the series, such as doing a prequel on why Xehanort did what he did and what he was before, and then the aftermath which connects to the prequel, and then there's how Roxas was in the Organization and how he and Axel(and Xion who was also introduced) became best friends. That's a bit true, but then again, in the game, the ending left many loopholes, like, "What did the letter say" and in my case and my sister's case when she finished it, "What happened to Maleficent?" since the last time we saw her was her and Pete going up against the heartless.īut then again, it's both Disney and Nomura.
